A Countryside Bed & Breakfast near Ravenna: Welcome to Pixel B&B
Pixel B&B is my bed & breakfast in the countryside near Ravenna: two rooms with private bathroom and their own separate entrance, a breakfast prepared largely with produce from my own garden and — just steps from the rooms — the mosaic studio where I have worked for twenty years. We are not in the old town, and that is deliberate. Here you get quiet fields, fresh air and free parking at the door, while Ravenna’s UNESCO mosaics stay just fifteen minutes away by car. And if you would rather travel without a car, the bus stop is only fifty metres from the house. Why a countryside B&B instead of central Ravenna
Most people looking for a bed and breakfast in Ravenna picture the historic centre. I chose differently, and over the years I’ve seen that this is exactly what makes the difference for the guests I welcome.
Fifteen minutes from the UNESCO mosaics, surrounded by nature
In high season the centre of Ravenna is busy: traffic, the hunt for parking, heat bouncing off the stone. Here it’s another world. You wake up to green all around, take your time over breakfast, and head into the city whenever you like. The Basilica of San Vitale and the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia — the mosaics Ravenna is famous for — are about fifteen minutes away by car. Close enough to visit at leisure, far enough to come back to somewhere peaceful in the evening.
And you don’t need a car to get here: the bus stop is just fifty metres from the house, on the line that runs from Ravenna’s train station and drops you practically at my door. If you’re arriving by train, or you simply prefer public transport, it’s the easiest way to reach us — and the gentlest on the environment.
Between the art city and the Adriatic coast
The location works in two directions. On one side, Ravenna and its mosaics; on the other, the coast. Punta Marina is six minutes away and Marina di Ravenna eleven, so if you’d like to combine a day by the sea with your cultural visit, you can do it without moving your luggage. Travelling with children? Mirabilandia theme park is around twenty minutes’ drive.
By bus, by bike or by car — whichever you prefer
If you come by car, you park for free right by the house — no circling for a space, and none of the worry of the ZTL: the city’s restricted traffic zone, where access by private car is limited without a permit. If you’d rather leave the car at home, you’re in the right place: besides the bus stop fifty metres away, the house sits directly on the cycle path that leads to the beach, the historic centre and the natural areas around us. Bicycles are available to guests free of charge, and if you bring your own there’s a secure garage where you can store it overnight.

Two rooms: Tessera and Mosaico
I have two rooms, both with a private bathroom, both located on the ground floor and each with its own separate entrance. Tessera and Mosaico take their names from my craft, and each has its own character: careful furnishings, reclaimed materials where possible, and everything you need to feel at home without the fuss — air conditioning, Wi-Fi, fresh linen, and the quiet of the countryside outside the window. Organic, km-0 breakfast from the countryside
Breakfast is what I’m proudest of. In summer, breakfast often includes raspberries, figs, pears, tomatoes and salad leaves freshly picked from my own garden, and the rest of the year I choose from producers who work the land nearby. I bake the cakes myself — as I do with almost all the jams. No pre-packaged snacks: fresh bread, seasonal fruit and homemade cakes, everything “Km 0”, which simply means ingredients sourced within a few kilometres of the house. A simple, honest breakfast that tells you more about this land than any brochure could.
The on-site mosaic studio — what makes Pixel B&B unique
This is something no other B&B in Ravenna can offer. Steps from the rooms is my mosaic studio, where I’ve worked for twenty years on commissions, restorations and courses. Ravenna is the world capital of mosaic, and sleeping in a house where mosaics are still created every day is a different kind of stay.
Even simply visiting a real artisan studio is an experience in itself: I’ll show you how a mosaic comes to life, from the raw materials to the cutting, and in the showroom you’ll find finished works on display — many of them for sale, one-of-a-kind pieces you won’t find anywhere else. - Punta Marina: 6 minutes
- Marina di Ravenna: 11 minutes
- Basilica of San Vitale and the UNESCO mosaics: 15 minutes
- Mirabilandia theme park: 18 minutes or more, depending on traffic
By bus, from the stop fifty metres away, you can reach the train station, the city centre or the beach in around twelve to thirteen minutes.

How to reach us by car, train or plane
By car, we’re easy to reach from the A14 motorway; I’ll send precise directions when you book. By train, Ravenna station is well connected, and the bus brings you here in a little over ten minutes, with the stop fifty metres from the house. By plane, the nearest airports are Bologna (about 1h30), Forlì (about 40 minutes) and Rimini (about 1h). For guests arriving from abroad or from the cruise port, I can arrange a transfer.
Sustainability: a B&B with a small environmental footprint
I try to run Pixel B&B as thoughtfully as possible — not as a slogan, but because I believe in it. The km-0 breakfast and the garden are the most visible part: fewer food miles, more seasonality, ingredients I know one by one. Then there’s the house itself, designed to use very little energy, and the everyday choices about materials, which I look after to leave the lightest possible mark on this corner of countryside. The bus stop fifty metres away and the bicycles for guests are part of the same idea: making it easy to explore Ravenna without a car.

What’s in it for you
Booking directly with me means you talk to the person who will actually welcome you, not a call centre. You can ask questions, request a special breakfast, agree on a different arrival time. Confirmation is quick, and the price is the best available, because there are no booking platform commissions added to the cost.
Why direct bookings matter
Every direct booking helps me invest more in the things that matter: a generous breakfast, the mosaic studio and the care of the house, rather than paying commission to large booking platforms. I say it openly, because I think guests who choose a place like mine understand and share that.

Prices and availability: what’s included
Seasonal rates
Rates start at €70 per night for single occupancy in low season, and from €85 for double occupancy. Rates change with the season, so for the current price on your dates it’s best to check the prices and availability page, which I keep up to date. I ask for a 50% deposit when you book; the balance is settled here, on arrival or departure.
What’s included in the rate
The rate includes breakfast, Wi-Fi, free parking, use of the bicycles, linen and cleaning, plus access to the shared spaces.
Not included is the tourist tax, which the City of Ravenna applies to all accommodation: €1.50 per person per night, for guests aged 14 and over, up to a maximum of 5 nights. It is paid in cash here at the B&B.
Optional add-ons
On request I can arrange a transfer from the port or airport and, for those curious about my craft, an introductory mosaic lesson. Classes run Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays by arrangement; I’m closed on Sundays.
Frequently asked questions
Check-in is from 2:00 PM, and check-out by 10:30 AM. Different arrival or departure times can almost always be arranged — just let me know when you book.
As a rule I don’t host pets, but I do sometimes make exceptions for small dogs. One thing worth knowing before you decide: my three cats live in the house and garden. If you’re travelling with your dog, write to me before booking and we’ll see whether it can work.
The rooms are on the ground floor, with a single step at the entrance, and the door is wide enough for a wheelchair. The bathroom is not fully accessible for wheelchair users. Overall the house is fairly accessible: if you have particular needs, write to me first and we’ll find the best solution.
I speak Italian, English and Spanish, and I can manage in French. I can communicate easily with international guests, both before and during your stay.
You can pay by bank transfer or card. I ask for a 50% deposit when you book, with the balance settled here.
It depends on the season: in low season, free cancellation up to 7 days before arrival; in high season, up to 15 days; and for July and August, 30 days. Write to me for the details on your dates.
